Word for the Summer

The Key to a Good Harvest

‘‘ … He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.’’

2 Corinthians 9:6

Plentiful sowing in God’s kingdom is the key to reaping a great God-given harvest. This is the principle applied to giving but it is also applied to prayer, the Word and daily life. We are told: “he who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed,” will return with his sheaves (Ps. 126:6). Jesus said we are to be “sowing the seed of the Word” in people’s hearts and watch it produce (Mark 4:14). We are also told to “sow to the Spirit”, referring to our everyday decisions and actions, reaping eternal life (Gal. 6:8). Let’s be sowing bountifully in every area of God’s field and expect a great harvest!

 Great Faith & Great Help
And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him,
"O you of little faith, why did you doubt?"
Matthew 14:31

Jesus wants us to trust God in the storms and to know He will catch us if we sink.
The problem here was that Peter lost his focus on Jesus and focussed instead on
the "boisterous wind" (v.30) - and started to sink.
But he also knew that Jesus was close by
and cried for help. We can do the same and will experience the same helping hand. As Jesus
tells us here, even in the storms, walking on water, do not doubt, trust Him!
